Dear colleagues and friends,
Neurosurgery is one of the most outstanding careers among all specialty of medicine because we have a chance to help the sickest patients in the hospital with devastating neurological diseases, technically challenging operations on fascinating and complex anatomy, motivated and passionate colleagues and endless research opportunities. However, there are some obstacles in this special field such as extensive training path, long hours and schedule are often inflexible, potential personal sacrifices in terms of relationships, family, and hobbies. These limitations will be the reasons learn for us and we can apply it as well to make a more appropriate for our career.
As all of us know, the knowledge and techniques used in neurosurgical fields are the most challenging factor especially in this modern era. However, the neurosurgical skill is so important for applying with the basic and advance knowledge to treat the patients. We cannot gain a successful achievement when using only one. Advanced procedures are always based on the basic knowledge especially the clinical basic science, and the neurosurgeons need to understand and optimize the clinical use for the best outcome of treatment to occur. Furthermore, we should have the self-esteems and braveness during working for neurosurgical field. These can lead to the effectiveness after treatment.
For a current issue that we should focus, the women neurosurgeons are incredible trailblazers and have accomplished a great deal. Women can divide the proper time for keeping adequate work life balance. And also, women can be leaders in the surgical field. I truthfully welcome you to enjoy this ACNS Students’ Society and hope it can be an inspiration for young neurosurgeons to move forward in their career.
